COLOR OF THE SHOES AND THE BELT
DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO MATCH THE COLOR OF THE SHOES AND THE BELT?
It is tempting to match the color
of the belt and the shoes: the
created reminder works every time, as long as the colors are well matched. However,
is this a panacea? Clearly, no.
The belt can take the color of a
shirt, pocket or even a scarf, without depending on what you wear.
It can even constitute a
relevant "transition" if you want to wear a powerful shade at the
top, and go towards more neutrality at the bottom.
Or on the contrary, the belt can voluntarily represent a
delimitation between the top and the bottom, for example in the
case of an outfit a little too monochrome:
DOES BLACK GO WITH EVERYTHING?
No, black does not go with
everything: it tends to cannibalize all colors that would not categorically
decide with it. Black and yellow, for example, are a contrast
that works well, while black and navy blue are simply "tasteless and
sad".
However, is black to be
condemned? Again, no, especially since it is very present in the
collections for the coming winter . It is possible to integrate black
elements under several conditions. The
qualities of cut, material and color are essential : the
black must be very deep and durable!
It can also be interesting to go
on a piece with an
assertive design, with jacquard , velvet (intensifying the dark
colors) or racy details (golden coat buttons and other
metallic inserts ...).
Finally, black can also be the
occasion for a play of
textures between the very matt aspect of a sheet for
example, and the very smooth appearance of leather. Not to mention
these exceptional
skins which are literally sublimated by black.
Note from Luca: If you are still
not convinced of the conditions necessary to wear black, you can read BenoƮt's
articles which explains how to wear black (and why not to wear
it).
In the second part of this
article , I tell you about received ideas about the style and price of
clothing.
